Double neck Ukulele

My first double neck ukulele is very much a prototype and to some extent an experiment. This new instrument draws on the experience I gained from making the first one.

It has double soundholes rather than the grape leaf finials, through stringing (the strings go through the top and are fastened underneath in much the same way as a steel strung acoustic guitar).

The necks are parallel to each other: the prototype necks are wider apart at the nut than the body. It’s important to have at least 100mm between the centres of the necks at the nut.

The part slotted head remains although slightly altered to make tuning easier.

The edge of the soundboard, the soundholes and the fretboard tongues will be inlayed with abalone. The face of the heads may also receive the same treatment.
